College Credit
ClassicalTrips.org journeys are academically rich -- but make no mistake, these are not classroom field trips with a clipboard and a worksheet. Students who have traveled with us consistently describe the experience as one of the most memorable of their lives.
The learning happens in context: standing inside the Colosseum, walking the streets of ancient Corinth, or watching the sun rise over the Aegean. That kind of education sticks.
Because the trips involve in-depth, on-site engagement with the roots of Western civilization -- including ancient history, classical philosophy, early church history, and the geography of the Biblical world -- a growing number of colleges and universities are willing to grant academic credit to students who participate, provided arrangements are made in advance.
How It Typically Works
Every institution handles this differently, but the most common pathway looks like this:

The student contacts the Humanities, History, or Classical Studies Department at their college or university before the trip

The department reviews the trip's academic content -- sites visited, reading materials, and the Socratic discussions that are a natural part of every ClassicalTrips experience

The student enrolls in an approved online Humanities or History course that runs concurrently with or following the trip

Required work typically includes reading one or two assigned books and submitting a written report covering both the course material and the trip experience

Credit awarded is generally in the range of 1 to 3 semester hours, depending on the institution and the scope of work required

These documents give academic advisors and department chairs what they need to evaluate the trip and structure an appropriate credit arrangement.
Important: Act Early
Credit arrangements must be initiated by the student and family well in advance -- ideally two to three months before departure. Most departments will not grant retroactive credit for a trip already completed. The earlier a student reaches out to their institution, the more options they will have.
